Grey Imports

For insurance purposes we at BikeSURE are proud to say that we insure grey bikes and that we know how to insure them correctly.

We insure grey bikes based on the year of manufacture. This is confirmed in the VIN number. We will also ask for the first year of registration.

Grey bikes have two values something close to what insurers call " betterment ".

The two values being .1 the accident repair cost value , which is no different to the identical SA import and the replacement value , which is substantially lower than the identical SA import.

This means that a grey bike must be insured for the same value as its local cousin.

If it has an accident claim the repair will be done as if it were the real Mccoy but if it is stolen or written off the settlement will be reduced even though the bike is insured at full value.
